BMR Calculator

Calculate your Basal Metabolic Rate (calories burned at rest).

What is BMR?

Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) is the number of calories your body burns while at complete rest. Even when you are sleeping, your body needs energy for basic functions like breathing, circulating blood, and cell production.

How it's calculated

This tool uses the Mifflin-St Jeor Equation, which is considered one of the most accurate methods for estimating BMR.

Using BMR for Weight Management

  • Maintain Weight: Eat calories equal to your TDEE (Total Daily Energy Expenditure), which is BMR x Activity Factor.
  • Lose Weight: Create a calorie deficit by eating fewer calories than your TDEE.
  • Gain Muscle: Eat a calorie surplus combined with resistance training.
